Blue- We are already doing in school.

Red- New ideas for Action Plan

Energy Saving

Checking with Mr Handson about lights being turned on in the morning.

We have got new hand dryers that save energy, new urinals, and new taps.

In time we need to change some wooden doors in school to double glazed.

The hall lights need to be turned off when not in use.

Computers and whiteboards are left on over night or at the end of the school day and need to be turned off. (Mr Tebbutt)

NEW Eco Warriors to be appointed in each class. (2 per class) The Eco Warriors will have many jobs which will be detailed in a job specification given to teachers. (Nicole and Gunilla to look at)

More energy saving stickers to be ordered from the Energy Saving Trust-Nicole Done 29.1.10

Litter and Recycling

We separate litter and recycle paper/card. (Photographic evidence)

We put fruit skins in the compost bins.

All classes need updated signs for bin if they do not already have any.

We need to recycle plastic.

We need to do a waste bin audit- (Mr Tebbutt and Mr Hanson.)

Ragtex- recycles clothes

Becky Shinn- Boston Borough Council- may give us bins for free.

Water

We have new energy saving taps, urinals and toilets. We have Captain Splosh water machines to keep pupils and staff hydrated.

We have a Green Britain Day pledge display. Lots of children have made pledges to save water/use less water everyday.

Our children raised money doing a sponsored dance for Water Aid.

We need to make more signs for the water machine, so children do not waste water.

We need to advertise water saving tips on our life channel and website.

We follow the International Primary Curriculum

A lot of activities or initiatives we do within school, overlap with the pupil participation section. Lots of activities we do in school have global dimension.

Healthy Living

The school has achieved the Healthy Schools Award which consists of many different aspects. Lots of the activities that supported Healthy Schools, link with the criteria for Eco Schools.

Biodiversity and School Grounds

A large Christmas tree has been donated to the school from ASDA.

Plans are in place to have 7 raised beds in KS1 area. (Mrs Swords) –need evidence for this.

Our woodland area is being developed outside to encourage more insects, plants and birds.

Year 4 visited Witham Country Park to look at different wildlife.

They are now working with Jenny Moore (Boston Borough Council) to get signs up in the Park about different creatures that can be found in the area.

Gardening Club

We need to get more Buddleias planted to attract butterflies.

Price up a pond/wet area- Nicole to look at Frithville School.

To research the Battery Hen Trust- to save old hens and give them a new home.

Look into funding a good chicken run. (Go Green Day)

Eventually having a small farm would be a good target. (Long term target)
