Parent Play Project - Day 2
We began by sharing our aims for this initial six week course.
- To share with parents and carers what and how their child is learning in school.
- To show parents and carers ways of supporting their child’s learning at home.
- To support parents and carers by answering any questions that they may have and adapting this course to meet their needs.
- To help children and their parents and carers to develop their use of the English Language.
Mrs. Swords showed us a presentation of photographs of children beginning to learn how to read and write.

We then shared a phonics lesson and the children demonstrated how clever they are.
- The children recognised graphemes (written letters) and made the correct phonemes (sounds).
- They sang the alphabet song which we learn to help us to know the letter names.
- The children then helped Mrs. Swords to write and read a very difficult sentence. They reminded Mrs. Swords to use a capital letter at the beginning, a finger space between each word and a full stop at the end.

Everybody made an alphabet scrap book to help us develop our language skills.

Whilst we worked we ate chocolate and cheese – they both begin with today’s special sound ‘ch’.
Igor and his mummy enjoyed cutting out the letters of the alphabet.
MoeSat worked hard with his mummy as they created their alphabet book.
Miriam enjoyed looking after Ethan’s baby sister and eating chocolate!
We were all busy and had great fun whilst we learned about the alphabet and developing our use of language.
