Parent Play Project - Day 3

Today we looked at our phonic programme.

Mrs. Swords shared lots of games with us that help us to learn about phonics and apply this knowledge to reading and writing.

  •     We practised naming the sounds.
  •     We listened to a story and picked out some of the tricky phonemes we have been learning.
  •    We listened for rhyming words in our story about a bear that accidentally got taken to the rubbish dump!
  •    We played a sound lotto game and listened to outdoor sounds such as birds singing, a helicopter and children splashing in a swimming pool.
  •    We had a go at writing the missing sounds in simple words using phoneme frames.

  •    We wrote lists of rhyming words.
  •    We played a reading game where we had to match a caption to a picture.
