Pyramid Club

WHO ARE WE ?

Pyramid is an established national charity (set up in 1993) that works in conjunction with local partners to help children of primary school age to fulfil their potential in school and in life by building their self-esteem and resilience.

Our aim is to provide support for quiet, withdrawn or isolated children who are finding it difficult to integrate or make friends. These children are often "invisible" and can make it difficult to make their voice heard.

Our tried and tested approach helps thousands of children by building their confidence and helping them to establish friendships.

OUR APPROACH

The Pyramid approach involves three steps. Firstly, all children in a particular year group are given an emotional health check. Class teachers and parents complete a simple questionnaire hat helsp them identify children who may be missing out in the hustle and bustle of a busy classroom, perhaps because they are quiet and shy, or find it difficult to make friends.

Next, a meeting is arranged where these childrena re discussed. The aim of this meeting is to come up with some positive and practical ideas to ensure that the right help is provided for every child who would benefit from support.

About ten of these children will be offered a place in the Pyramid Club, which is an enjoyable, after shcool activity club designed to help build children's confidence and self esteem.

PYRAMID CLUBS

The clubs are enjoyable clubs where the children take part in many different activities, including arts and crafts, cooking, games and, usually, an outing.

The activities are designed to increase children's self-confidence, and to help them make friends and talk with one another. Children are encouraged to come up with their own ideas of what they would like to do.

IT WORKS !!

Independent evaluation and research shows that children who attend Pyramid Clubs become more confident and outgoing. Through being in a small, safe group environment they find it easier to make new friends and become happier and less withdrawn, and therefore enjoy school more and find it easier to learn.
